If That Hat Could Talk

Author turned hatter John Brubaker gathers stories for forthcoming book.

The idea for a book about people and their hats originated after Brubaker was having a conversation with a customer at his hat shop. His customer was telling him about the old Stetson hat he brought in to have Brubaker clean and restore. “It was his grandfather’s hat and as he described his grandfather, I thought to myself: Damn… if that hat could talk, it would have some stories to tell.”

That encounter was the genesis of the concept for his new book which will feature people from all walks of life, sharing stories about their hats that range from inspiring to unbelievable.

•            Did your hat save your life somehow?

•            Did you meet your significant other because of that hat?

•            Was your hat passed down several generations? Is it one of a kind?

•            Did your hat get stolen and subsequently recovered?

•            Do you have a touching story about being gifted your first hat?

We would love to hear from anyone who has a fascinating story to tell about their hat.

And if you’ve ever looked at your hat and said, “Thank God that hat can’t talk or it would tell a pretty incriminating story”, in that case we DEFINITELY want to hear your story and can keep your identity anonymous.

To have your hat and it’s story included as a chapter of this book you may either write up and email your story to IfThatHatCouldTalk@gmail.com or simply email us to schedule an interview
